VIHIGA county has started distributing subsidised fertiliser to farmers. Agriculture Executive Sande Mukuna said 3,335 bags of CAN fertiliser worth Sh8 million have been distributed to the four subcounties. “Farmers will be buying a 50kg bag at Sh1,000 instead of the Sh1,500 market price,” Mukuna said. He said 135 bags have been distributed to each of the 25 wards in the county. “We decided to suply the subsidised fertiliser to cushion farmers from exploitation,” Mukuna said.
