An assistant chief was yesterday charged in a Kisii court with stock theft. Edward Paul Momanyi of Mochengo sublocation in Masaba South subcounty denied the charges before area resident magistrate SN Makila. He was charged that on March 13, at Mochengo, he stole two goats worth Sh15,000 from Samuel Omobe. In an interview, Omobe said Momanyi stormed his house at around 9am, untied the goats and drove them away. Makila freed him on Sh30,000 with a surety of a similar amount or Sh15,000 bail. The case will be mentioned on May 8 while the hearing was set for May 15.
