A MEMBER of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture has asked the government to ban repackaging of sugar to stop smuggling. Mumias East MP Ben Washiali said continued repackaging of smuggled sugar in bags resembling those of local manufacturers will push down local sugar prices. He asked Kenya Sugar Board to stay alert to know activities on sale of sugar taking place in the country. The MP was speaking at Shianda shopping centre when he hosted Agriculture Secretary Felix Koskei on Saturday.
