THE Western Elders Council has said old people are discriminated against when they go for HIV testing in public hospitals. Secretary general Japheth Barua said young doctors and nurses do not consider the fact that the elders may have contracted the disease between the ages of 45 and 55. He was addressing elders during a meeting with Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong in Busia town on Wednesday. Barua said the national government should post retired medical practitioners to hospitals to guide and counsel old people who go for HIV testing.
