Fifa World Cup holds Kisumu thugs hostage

CRIME in Kisumu has gone down “drastically” since the Fifa World Cup begun on Thursday night, county police bosses have said. Kisumu county commander David Ng’etich yesterday said criminals are too busy watching the football matches to venture out and steal. “Matches normally go on late into the night or early morning,” he said. “At least now the youth have something to keep them occupied so they are not involved in criminal activities.” Ng’etich said residents are thrilled that the World Cup season is on, but are “calm”. “The level of alertness within the county at night is commendable,” he...
