A man jailed for 40 years by an Embu court for killing his wife and son has had his term reduced to10 years. Embu judge Hedwig Ong’udi yesterday cut the jail term after Eric Mutua appealed the sentence. Mutua had already served 2 years in prison. She said the crime Mutua committed was very serious but that the sentence was too harsh. Mutua had been convicted of two charges of manslaughter. The magistrate had sentenced him to 20 years for both counts.
