THE government will pay sugarcane farmers extra based on sugar content in cane delivered to millers. Addressing cane farmers at Sony Sugar factory on Monday, Agriculture Cabinet secretary Felix Koskei said this payment will boost earnings. “Farmers will get an advantage because they will be paid more according to the sucrose content in the cane sold to millers,” he said.
