Kondele ward representative Gabriel Ochieng was yesterday elected as the presiding speaker at the Kisumu county assembly after Ann Adul was impeached on Tuesday. Majority leader Samuel Ong’ou moved the motion to elect the presiding speaker, who will serve until a new speaker is elected. Ong’ou said the assembly needed to move fast so that its business is not affected. Railway ward representative Isaiah Onyango proposed Ochieng, who elected unopposed. Adul was impeached for not upholding the assembly interim standing orders by abandoning the assembly while in session.
