MORE than 30 Kenyan truck drivers yesterday protested mistreatment by Ugandan police at the Malaba border. The drivers said Ugandan police have been plucking off number plates of their trucks contrary to traffic and road safety act, 1998. They said the Ugandan police have been forcing them to pay Sh7,000 to buy their freedom. "The 35 offences listed in the Traffic and Road Safety Act specific the amounts pegged to be fined on each offence and plucking off vehicle number plates is none of those," one of them said.
