Siaya to use idle land for food production

SIAYA county government will carry out an inventory of all idle public land for agricultural production. County Lands commissioner David Ochieng Babu said the county will adopt intensive crop farming to boost food production. "The aim of the initiative is to address perennial food shortage in the county," he said. Babu said the county will also engage private land owners willing to lease out their land. “We intend to reach an agreement with those who have idle land should lease it to the government.They will benefit from 30 per cent of the total harvest,” he said.
