Farmers want better roads

Sugarcane farmers have asked the government to improve the roads to reduce huge losses they incur while transporting sugarcane. The farmers want the government to buy tractors for transporting cane to the mills to avoid the exploitation of farmers by the private transporters who overcharge them. Kenya Sugarcane Growers Association Nyando branch secretary Caleb Ochieng said some factories have few tractors to ferry all the canes.
