Leaders want Omena ban scrapped

A section of Siaya county leaders want a review of the law that provides for the annual ban on fishing and trade of small fish (Omena). They include the vice chairman of Agriculture committee Willis Okoth and Central Sakwa ward representative Johannes Andiego. They said the ban effected between April and August annually has no positive impact in the fishing industry. They were speaking separately to the Star on the phone yesterday.
