The Economic Empowerment Center for Women in the Fishing Community was launched in Homa Bay county on Thursday. The Japan government has given a Sh10m grant for the project, which will be implemented by an NGO, Development Knowledge Link Africa. The centre will be at Kisui village in Mbita subcounty. Deputy President William Ruto's wife Rachel, Japan ambassador Tatsushi and the Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti commissioned the project.
