KISUMU leaders want county governments to run sugar factories ahead of their privatisation. Governor Jack Ranguma, his deputy Ruth Odinga and MP Onyango Koyoo (Muhoroni), James Nyikal (Seme), Aduma Owuor (Nyakach), Fred Outa (Nyando) and Rose Nyamunga (Kisumu women's rep) said the privatisation should be overseen by governments, who will identify potential investors. They were speaking on Monday during Ranguma's family meeting. Ranguma urged the Government to allocate more funds to county governments to help them revamp the factories before they are privatised.
