Water lost to pipe vandals

SEVENTY percent of water supplied by the Mumias water supply scheme cannot be accounted for. Area manager Lilian Hakonga yesterday said the scheme can only account for 30 per cent of the 2,500 cubic meters of water it supplies to residents. Hakonga said there was vandalism of supply pipes from the Nambacha supply scheme and illegal connections. Speaking in Kakamega yesterday, Hakonga said residents using the water are not willing to pay.
