MUSLIMS from Western Kenya have asked the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya national chairman Abdallah Ateka to fight religious intolerance and foster unity between Muslims and Christians. CIPK Western region secretary general Khamis Wakhusama said Ateka’s appointment has balanced the Islamic leadership in the country “and undermines nepotism among the Muslim community”. Addressing journalists in his Mumias town office on Sunday, he urged Ateka to promote peaceful co-existence between Muslims and non-Muslims. He appealed to the Chief Kadhi Sheikh Muhdhar to encourage unity among Muslims.
