A viral disease similar to Ebola reported in neighbouring Uganda has put public health officers at Busia and Malaba borders on high alert. Marburg is a hemorrhagic fever disease with about 40 per cent case fatality rate compared to 90 per cent for Ebola. The disease, which broke out in Mpigi district, Central Kampala, on September 28, has so far claimed the life of one person. Busia health official Sospeter Omollo said more than 420 travellers entering the country through Uganda were screened on Tuesday for Marbug as well as Ebola.
