Kisii Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Benjamin Onkoba yesterday asked soapstone carvers in South Mugirango to sell their carving in dollars. Onkoba said the carvers will minimise exploitation by middlemen who buy their products at lower prices. He said the carvers lose millions of shillings annually because they are ignorant of foreign currencies. “I urge soapstone carvers to sell their products in dollars to maximise profits,” Onkoba said in his office yesterday.
