The SIAYA county government has been urged to sustain donor-funded projects when the donors phase out. Siaya county assembly Implementation and Oversight Committee chairman Leonard Oriaro said most development projects initiated by non-state organisations die out. He sad there is a need for policies that will take over such projects. Oriaro said taking over the projects will alleviate poverty. He cited dairy farming projects supported by ‘Send A Cow’, an NGO, in North and Central Alego locations and Millennium Development Goals projects in Gem subcounty.
