Cane growers to get paid on sucrose content

THE government will change sugarcane payment mode from the usual weight-based to quality-based in terms of sucrose content, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Felix Koskei has said. The new payment mode is expected to begin next year after sugar testing equipment is installed in public and private mills.
