VIHIGA Senator George Khaniri has asked governors to account for the funds they have received from the national government before imposing taxes on the locals. Khaniri said the resistance by the locals to proposed taxes is a reaction to failure by the counties to initiate development using the money they have already received. “Any attempt to impose taxes on the people will only succeed after they are convinced the money counties have received from the Treasury is well used,” he said.
