Boda boda operators in Kisumu have threatened to demonstrate against the county’s plan to have them barred from entering the central business district. Sources from the operators revealed that the peaceful protest will paralyse boda boda transport in the county. “Our livelihoods depend on boda bodas. We need to be allowed to access town as we pay taxes,” an operator said. The operator, who sought anonymity, said they are only paid Sh50 per trip in most of the routes and the move will reduce that amount.
